Pleasant, IA, Robert Richard was the son of Ralph and Ada Lane McClure. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. Pleasant, IA, died Monday, October 13, 2014, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant. IA. Born July 16, 1922, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Robert Richard was the son of Ralph and Ada Lane McClure. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. On November 12, 1942, Bob joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS West Point during World War II. He was discharged three years later. On October 1, 1945, Bob married Lucille Lessenger in Iowa City. She preceded him in death on November 14, 2012. Bob worked as a car salesman for a total of 50 years with service between Ervin Motors, Shafer Motors, McWhirter Chevrolet and Boles Auto Sales. He was a member of Trenton Missionary Church and V.F.W. Post 2561. His favorite activity was watching his grandchildren play sports. Bob was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. Using the skills learned from his service in the Navy, Bob was an excellent baker. Along with his wife, Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Patti Whitsel; a son-in-law, William Church; three brothers, John McClure, Don McClure, and Carlos McClure; and three sisters, Elsie Swailes, Alice Smith, and Marguerite Peterson.
