H. and Christiana Dirrim was born in Franklin Township, DeKalb County, Ind., May 23, 1857. He lived on his father's farm until 1887 when he came to Hamilton and began clerking in the drug store of John Garwood. On April 21, 1895, he was united in marriage with Miss Lulu Garver and excepting a short period spent in Fort Wayne, Ind., and at Coburg, Montana, their whole married life was spent in Hamilton. He was engaged in the furniture and undertaking business in partnership with Henry Weicht for a number of years and for about three years they kept the Fish Lake hotel in Hamilton. Mr. and Mrs. Dirrim had no children of their own, but in 1904 they took to raise, two children, Pauline and Harry Michaels, aged respectively 4 to 2 years, and in 1913 they legally adopted them and reared and loved them as their own. His wife, Lulu, died January 21, 1931, and Pauline departed this life June 18, 1931. "Timmy" as he was familiarly known, was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Christ in Hamilton for over fifty years and during all that period he was not only one of the most dependable members of the church, serving as clerk and trustee, but he strove to exemplify the teaching of his Savior in all his relations with his fellowman. In this long and useful life he was ably supported by his devoted and consecrated wife and their lives have made a fine contribution of christian service to the whole community. For about three months he had suffered from heart trouble but had been confined to his bed only one day before his death at his home in Hamilton May 10, 1937, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 17 days. (13 days penciled in) He was the last survivor of his family and he leaves of his immediate relatives, his son, Harry, and wife, Celestia, and four grandchildren, Billy Tingler, and Maida, Valla and Wilma Lou Dirrim, besides a number of nephews and nieces who with a large circle of friends and neighbors will cherish him in loving memory. Funeral services were conducted at the Church of Christ in Hamilton on May 12 at 10 a.m. by Eld. J. O. Rose of Angola and the burial was at Hamilton Cemetery.
