Glasco Sun, Nov. 22, 1956, page 1: Final Rites Held For Robert Martin Robert Rupert Martin, son of Cecil O. and Ellen Colwell Martin, was born December 16, 1904, at the family home one mile east of Glasco. He attended Glasco Grade School and graduated from Glasco Rural High School in 1923. Bob worked for the State of New York for 20 years. He spent four years with the American Arabian Oil Co. in Saudia Arabia and in Casa Blanca. He returned to New York in 1952, and at the time of his death he was employed at the Roosevelt hospital in New York City. He was a veteran of four years of active duty in the service of his country. At the time of his death he was Past Commander of American Legion Post No. 1047 in New York City. He was married to Helen Miley of Rockbury, Conn., in New York City. His wife and infant baby girl preceded him in death on Feb. 3, 1937. Robert passed away at the Roosevelt hospital on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 1956, at 3:40 a,m, at the age of 51 years, 10 months, and 28 days. He leaves to mourn his passing, his parents, Ella and Cecil Martin; four brothers, Sidney, Jesse, and George, of Glasco, and Roscoe of Cleveland, Ohio; besides several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Robert was an especially devoted son, his first thoughts always of his father and mother. Funeral services were held at the Glasco Christian Church Saturday, Nov. 17, 1956, at 2:00 o'clock p.m., with Rev. Tom Davis officiating. Music was by Mrs. Lila Goddard and Mrs. Gordon Fahring, accompanied by Mrs. Edw. Berndt. Flower ladies were Pauline Johnson, Mary Martin and Dorothy Martin. Casket bearers were Dick Martin, Denny Martin, George Colwell, Max Martin, Archie Capron, and Carl Johnson. Interment was in Glasco cemetery with Haley Funeral Home in charge.
