Robert was born November 27, 1913, on the family farm near Riceville, the son of Arthur and Ethel (Barker) Minnis. He graduated from Riceville High School in 1931 and from Hamilton Business College in Mason City, in 1960. Robert was united in marriage to Allene McCord on July 6, 1940, at Allene's parent's home in Iowa Falls. Robert farmed with his father, Arthur, from 1934 to 1955. He worked as a bookkeeper at Olson Motor Company from 1960 to 1982, at Cooper's Osage Chrysler for a short time, and at Paul's Plumbing and Heating for ten years, until 1999. Robert enjoyed antique tractors and cars, and the company of relatives and friends. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Osage. He is survived by his wife Allene (McCord) Minnis of Osage; two sons, William Minnis and his wife Debbie of Shepherd, Mich., and Frank Minnis and his wife Sara of Des Moines; one daughter, Sara Krueger and her husband James of Neenah, Wis.; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his son Bruce Minnis; a grandson Nathan Krueger; one brother Roy Minnis; and two sisters, Isabelle Coleman and Anna McClanahan.
