Description	:	Robert (Bob) Wilson Brazelton passed away on June 18th at the Courtyard Healthcare Center from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was 87 years old. Bob was born in 12/3/1918 at his family's ranch in Elbert, Colorado. He grew up in Colorado and graduated from high school in Sparta, Missouri and Springfield Teachers College before teaching elementary school in a one-room school house. Read More	Robert (Bob) Wilson Brazelton passed away on June 18th at the Courtyard Healthcare Center from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was 87 years old. Bob was born in 12/3/1918 at his family's ranch in Elbert, Colorado. He grew up in Colorado and graduated from high school in Sparta, Missouri and Springfield Teachers College before teaching elementary school in a one-room school house. His interest in aircraft brought him to Southern California, where he met his wife, Dorothy. They met while working together writing and illustrating aircraft manuals for Douglas Aircraft Company during World War II. Bob and Dorothy married in 1945, just before Bob went overseas to serve in the Army as a 1st Lieutenant. After the war, Bob began his studies in Mechanical Engineering at UCLA, completing his degree in the Agricultural Engineering Department at UCD in 1950. After graduation, he worked in farm equipment manufacturing in Rio Vista, where his two children, Bill and Nancy, were born. Bob joined the Agricultural Engineering Department at UC Davis in 1965 after working 10 years in the aerospace industry with Rocketdyne and Aerojet General. Bob enjoyed his work as an Ag Extension Specialist, focusing on farm safety. He worked with county Farm Advisers and 4-H organizers to promote safe practices with farm equipment and pesticide handling. His interest in safety engineering led to a Masters Degree from USC in 1975. Bob was active with the American Association of Agricultural Engineers and was a Licensed Professional Engineer and Mechanical Engineer. He retired from the University in 1986. Bob and Dorothy enjoyed many years of traveling throughout the western United States, camping in their trailer. They visited Sea Ranch frequently and participated in Elder-Hostel outings in the Southwest. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying backpacking throughout the Sierras and attending meetings with the Davis Flyfishing Club. He was fond of Western stories and enjoyed having Dorothy read him tales from Louis L'Amour and other western writers. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Brazelton, and his two children and two grandchildren. His son, Bill Brazelton, lives in Phoenix, AZ with his wife Donna and daughter Emily. Their daughter, Carlyn Parker and son-in-law Gary Parker live in Mesa, AZ. Bob's daughter Nancy Philleo, and her husband Chris Philleo, live in Newtown Square, PA. Bob enjoyed keeping in contact with several generations of cousins from Colorado, on his father's side and from Sweden, from his mother's family. A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Monday, June 26th at the Davis Community Church, 412 C Street. A reception will follow at the church. A private family service in Elbert, Colorado will follow at a later date. Wiscombe's Davis Funeral Chapel is assisting the family and is hosting a virtual guestbook for remembrances of Bob at www.davisfuneral.com.
