Hendrickson Died At Omaha Hospital Oct. 25; Was Prominent Sherman County Citizen Loup City and Sherman county lost one of its most respected citizens last Friday in the death of R. D. Hendrickson. Mr. Hendrickson had gone to an Omaha hospital several weeks before for medical treatment, but did not respond and passed away there at the age of 75 years. Funeral services were conducted at the home Monday afternoon by Rev. C. T. Hawes of the Methodist church and burial was made in the Evergreen cemetery. Members of the I. O. O. F. lodge conducted the rites at the cemetery. Roll D. Hendrickson, son of Peter and Elizabeth Dawdy [sic] Hendrickson was born at Metamora, Franklin county, Indiana, on April 15, 1865. At the age of four years he moved to Arcola, Ill., and at the age of 14 years again moved to near Bennett, illinois. On June 15, 1888 he came to Loup City, Nebraska and has lived in this community since that date. On April 15, 1912 he was united in marriage to Katherine Burrowes. He was a member of the Methodist Church where for many years he had taught in the Sunday school and had served as treasurer. He had served the public for many years, being county sheriff for four years and county Superintendent of schools for 20 years. He had been a member of Excelsior Lodge No. 166 I. O. O. F. of Loup City since April 2, 1901, serving as Noble Grand in 1905, and secretary since 1936. He was a member of the Encampment and charter member of the Canton, Sherman, joining in 1911. He was also a charter member of the Morning Star Rebecca [sic] 191 of Loup City, assisting with its organization in 1904. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers and is survived by his widow, a daughter Edna and her husband Floyd runge of Omaha, sister, Mrs. Mabel Lane of Richmond, Calif., and two grandchildren.
