Read More	March 3, 1983 Denison Bulletin, Denison, Iowa: Rosa Mae Borgstahl was born on a farm near Vail, Iowa, Nov. 15, 1916, the daughter of Franklin and Frona Crane. She was raised on the family farm and received her early education at the rural schools near her home. Rosa attended high school in Denison, where she was graduated with the class of 1933. During her high school, Rosa took two years of Normal Training that certified her to teach grade school. Following her graduation she taught in the rural school in East Boyer Township. Rosa was baptized in April of 1930, and on December 25, 1937, she was confirmed into the Lutheran faith at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. On June 4, 1937, Rosa was united in marriage with William Borgstahl at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. To this union, two children, Ronald and Janice, were born. Following their marriage Bill and Rosa made their home on a farm west of Denison until 1948 when they moved to their present farm home north of Deloit. After her marriage, Rosa taught for a time in the rural school in Otter Creek Township. After retiring in 1962, they had continued to reside on the farm. It was while Rosa was taking her daily walk Feb. 17, that she was stricken with a heart attack and taken to the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison. After suffering another heart attack and taken to the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison. after suffering another heart attack on Saturday, Rosa was taken to the St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb., and it was there her death occurred Feb. 27, 1983. At the time of her death she has attained the age of 66 years, three months, and 12 days. During her life, Rosa spent countless hours doing volunteer work for her church and civic organizations. At age 10 she joined 4-H and continued to remain active in that organization until her death. For ten years she was a leader of the Kiron 4-H Star Girls Club. She then worked in all phases of the 4-H organization at the county level including being a judge of records and judging achievement shows. In December of 1982, Rosa was awarded the 4-H Alumni Award. Since 1949 she was a member of the Home and Hobby Club. She was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and was presently serving as treasurer of Dorcas. Rosa was an active participant in the Red Cross Bloodmobile program having recently received a nine gallon pin. For many years Rosa worked with the handicapped clinics that were conducted in Denison, and she was a member of the Crawford County Auxiliary in Denison. Rosa was proceeded in death by her parents and one sister who died in infancy. She is survived by her husband William of Deloit, one son, Ronald Borgstahl of Hampshire, Ill., one daughter, Janice (Mrs. Eldon) Geist of Lakewood, CO, six grandchildren, Leigh and Kaye Borgstahl, and Cynthia, Andrew, Susan, and Juli Geist, one brother, Kermit Crane of Dunlap. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wed., March 2, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison with the Rev. Jack D. Heck officiating. Comfort in music was provided by Henry Henningsen as soloist singing "Abide With Me" and the congregation singing "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art" with Mrs. Fred Rabe as organist. Honorary pallbearers included Ray Larson, Cyrenus Knief, George Beaman, Robert Fink, Earl Whiteing, Howard Shaw, Vernet Soenksen, Wilbur Reimers, Virgil Boeck, Ray Kluender, Vincent Keating, and Fred Holst. Pallbearers were Jim Beaman, Michael Fink, Calvin Enfield, Bernard Martin, Larry Boeck, and Merlin Whiteing. Burial was in the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison.
