HUGH JONESRose Downey Jones who passed away in the early morning of March 17th, at the home of her step daughter, Mrs. Harry Carnine of this city, had reached the age of 84 years. She was born on Saint Patrick’s Day and she died on Saint Patrick’s Day.She first saw the light of this world at Belfast, Ireland, in the spring of 1839.In November, 1885, she came to the U. S. A., and in June 1886 she was married to Hugh Jones. Her husband preceded her in death by about five and one-half years.She leaves to mourn her departure one daughter, Mrs. John Kelly of Auburn; two step-daughters, Mrs. Harry Carnine and Mrs. W. H. Dixon, both of Burlingame; also some other relatives and many friends.She was baptized in the Roman Catholic church in Ireland, but never affiliated with any church in America.Her health was failing fast during the past year, and to her, death must have come as a great release.Our mortality shall put on immortality.Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Ahrens were held at the Presbyterian church on Sunday afternoon and the body was laid to rest in the Burlingame cemetery.
