Description	:	Rose E. Shaffer, 88, of Grand Island, formerly of Fremont, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at Golden Living Lakeview Nursing Home in Grand Island. Rose was born Oct. 17, 1922, in Petersburg to Frank and Ella (Kerl) Clayton. Rose married James H. Shaffer on May 8, 1954, in Fremont. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1979. Survivors are: sons, Randy Shaffer of Grand Island and Larry Shaffer of Denver; daughter, Cheri Osborne of Central City; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Rose grew up in the Fremont and surrounding area and graduated from Fremont High School in 1941. She then attended Grace College of the Bible in Omaha for one year. She worked for Ideal Laundry for seven years while living in Fremont. She lived in numerous places, including: Plattsmouth, Louisville, Fremont and Wausa. Rose moved to Grand Island in 1974. Rose attended the Evangelical Free Church in Grand Island and she was a former member of the Fremont Alliance Church. She was a babysitter for church families who were involved in various outreach ministries. Rose was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ernest Clayton; and sister, Violet Cain.
