Summers, son of James Newton and Ellen Summers was born on a farm near Malvern, Jan. 13, 1876. His young manhood was spent farming and stock raising on his farm southeast of Malvern. He was united in marriage with Edith Estella McIntosh at Iola, Kan. Feb. 14, 1910. She preceded him in death April 9, 1949. To this union three children were born, one son, Norvan E. Summers and two daughters, Anna Ellen and Ruth Irene. Robert Storm was taken in to the home and raised as one of his own children. His first years of married life were spent near Uniontown, Kan. then four years in Colorado and his last years were spent on the Laura Summers farm southeast of Malvern. He passed away Dec. 29, 1949 after about six months of illness. He was a loyal and devoted father and husband. He was very kind and patient in caring for his invalid wife for 20 years. He is survived by his son, Norvan E. Summers of Malvern, two daughters, Anna Ellen Swain of Grand Junction, and Ruth Irene Bovey Of San Bernadino, Cal. and his foster son Robert Storm of Malvern, also two sisters, Laura Summers of Malvern and Eunice Artell of Portland, Ore.; one half sister Lillian Palmer of Plainview, Nebr. and one brother, Strayer Summers of Strahan and five grandchildren and many friends.
