Description	:	Roy E. Good, 83, who, lived and farmed in Logan County since 1919, died Thursday in the Sterling hospital. Closed casket services will be at 10 a.m. Monday from the Chaney-Walters Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Haddock and Rev. Walter Graham of ficiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Gary Haddock and Rev. Walter Graham of ficiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. He was born Nov. 29, 1894, in Albany, Mo., a son of George Ulysses and Cora A. Burgess. He received his early schooling in Albany, moving with his family to Darlington, Mo., in 1910. He came to Merino in 1919 and in 1921, his parents moved to the same area to farm and ranch. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines in April of 1917 and served in World War I, serving with the 2nd Marine Division in Europe. He received his discharge in August of 1919 and returned to Merino. He married Dora May Couch on Oct. 8, 1922 in Merino and they fanned near Atwood. In 1936, they moved to the original farm of his parents near Merino where they lived and farmed more than 40 years and he was active in the operation of the farm at the time of his death. He was an active member of the Willard Church of God and then the Willard United Methodist Church and a long time member of the Farmers Union. He was on the steering committee that organized the Chimney Canyon Grazing Association and served as the Association's president many years. He was elected an honorary member of the Association's board of directors this past year. He was also active in the Logan County Democratic Party and had served as county chairman and was serving as a committeeman at the time of his death. Mrs. Good died Aug. 21, 1978. Survivors include four Sons: Loren Good, Akron; W. Claude Good, Vicksburg, Mich.; Philip Good, Montrose, and Kenneth Good, Sidney, Australia; a daughter, Charolette Harryman, Merino; brothers T. Wade Good, Denver; John E. Good, Raton, N.M.; Oran D. Good, Salina, Kans.; sisters Mrs. Ruby Berry, Greeley, and Mrs. Reva B. Newton, Denver; 22 grandchildren and 9 greatgrandchildren. The Chaney-Walters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
