Description	:	Russell G. Peterson, 64, prominent Hill County farmer-rancher and civic leader, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1976, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Lutheran Church in Havre with burial in Highland cemetery. Peterson was born July 16, 1912, at Kathryn, N.D., the son of Hilbert and Eva Peterson. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Lutheran Church in Havre with burial in Highland cemetery. Peterson was born July 16, 1912, at Kathryn, N.D., the son of Hilbert and Eva Peterson. He came to Montana as a one-year-old child when his parents homesteaded north of Havre and spent the rest of his life in this area. Peterson was a member of the local Farmers Union and the F.U. Credit Union. He was a director of the Farmers Union Oil Company and of the Hill County Rural Electrification Association. He was a member of the Hill County Planning Board, the Board on legislation and was chairman of the supervisory committee of Hill County. He was a trustee on the school board at one time and was recently accepted into "Who's Who in The West." He was active in 4-H work and a member of the local Sons of Norway Lodge and the Havre Eagles Aerie. He was a past board member of the Havre Chamber of Commerce. He belonged to the First Lutheran Church of Havre. The survivors include his wife, the former Vineta Mapes, whom he married June 28, 1942, in Havre. She resides at the family farm north of town. A daughter, Carol Sue Peterson, of Havre, two sons, Mark Eugene and Kim Allen Peterson of Havre, also survive, as do one sister, Mrs. Edith Hurd of Thompson Falls, and a brother, Arnold Peterson of Havre.
