Read More	Ruth Elaine (Erickson) Parkening age 85 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth. Ruth Elaine (Erickson) Parkening was born on February 21, 1929 to George Victor and Edna Ruth (Mathis) Erickson in Wray, CO. She was raised and schooled in Como, CO and Louisville, NE. She graduated from Louisville High School with the class of 1947. She met the love of her life Ralph Leroy Parkening and they later married on October 22, 1950 at the United Methodist Church in Louisville, NE. In 1973, they moved to Eldorado, AR and owned and operated the Flamingo Motel. Ruth and Ralph moved to Bellevue, NE in 1977 where they owned and operated the Sandman Motel. Then Ruth and Ralph moved to Lincoln, NE and later they retired and moved to Beaver Lake, NE and then to Plattsmouth, NE. She was member of the Merry Workers Extension Club. Ruth is survived by her two sons: Alan Parkening and wife Nancy of Millard, NE, Dale Parkening and wife Jenna of Omaha, NE, five grandchildren: Eric Parkening and wife Sara of Lincoln, NE, Jennifer Parkening-Karls and husband Jeff of Fremont, NE, Adam Parkening of Los Angeles, CA, Scott Parkening of Lincoln, NE, Todd Parkening of Lincoln, NE, great grandson: Bennet Parkening, sister: Mardelle Meyerott of Ashland, NE, sister-in-law: Katherine Ayers and husband Richard of Calabasas, CA, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Edna Erickson, husband: Ralph Parkening, and two brothers: Elton Erickson and Donald Erickson. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Louisville, NE with Pastor Emily Johnson and Pastor Harold Rice officiating, Debbie Erickson as vocalist, and Jack Franke as organist. Visitations will be held from 1-9 P.M., Friday, October 3, 2014 with family greeting relatives and friends from 6-8 P.M. at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, NE.
