She was born May 15, 1915, near Cummings, the daughter of Fred and Nellie Barber Howard. She was graduated from Atchison High School in 1931 and attended Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison two years. She served in the Army from 1941 to 1943. She was a teacher a year and later worked at Fort Leavenworth and at the Atchison Storage Facility. She retired in 1970. She was a member of First Christian Church and Fleming-Jackson-Seever Post No. 6 of the American Legion, both in Atchison, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was married to Maxwell Melvin Easter June 23, 1956, in Cummings. He died March 7, 1977. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home in Atchison. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Atchison. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Daughters of the American Revolution.
