Rynold Butt, prominent Merrick county farmer for many years, died suddenly Wednesday, June 21, 1957 at his farm near Central City. The son of August and Augusta [Burkhart] Butt; he was born October 18, 1897, at Western, NE. He came to Merrick County with his parents at the age of 14 years where he has resided until his passing. In 1923 Rynold and Minnie Clauff were united in marriage and they have made their home in the same vicinity in Merrick County and near his parents. In early infancy he was received into Christ's kingdom of grace by the Sacrament of Holy Baptism and in his early teens he renewed his baptismal covenant in the rite of confirmation. He became a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Central City and for a number of years served the congregation as trustee. He was very ambitious and since the family moved their residence into Central City, he never lost his interest in the farm. It was a joy to him to make daily trips to the farm to be with, and to help, his son Louis, with farm work and it was in this joy that the end came. He suffered a heart attack while working in a field. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Minnie; two daughters; Miss Reta Butt and Mrs. Jay [Laree] Gee of Central City; one son, Louis, Central City; three brothers, Fred, Otto and Helmet; three sisters, Miss Hannah Butt, Mrs. John [Bertha] Hake, and Mrs. Frank [Elsie] Nickel; seven grandchildren, numerous relatives and a great many friends. He is proceeded in death by his parents and one brother.
