Description	:	Georgetown Times October 27 1977 Samuel Evan Hodge 50 department chief of civil central design engineering of the Southern Kraft Division of International Paper Co died Saturday morning in a Mobile Ala hospital after an illness of five months. Funeral services were Sunday at 3 pm in the Springhill Baptist Church in Mobile. Interment was in Georgetown Tuesday at 11 am in Elmwood Cemetery. Burial followed under the direction of the Mayer Funeral Home. Mr Hodge was born in Georgetown on Oct 13 1927 a of Vernon Mortimer Hodge and Mrs Anna Skinner Hodge. He was graduated from Winyah High School and from Clemson University with a BS degree in civil engineering. He served in the US Navy during the Korean conflict and began his career with Dupont Co. In 1954 he became associated with International Paper Co and had worked in their plants in Spring Hill La Panama City Fla and Texarkana Tex prior to his assignment in Mobile. Mr Hodge was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church in Mobile and a member of the Winyah Lodge No 40 Ancient Free Masons in Georgetown and a Scottish Rite Mason. Surviving in addition to his father and mother of Georgetown are his widow Mrs Doris Mixson Hodge of Mobile and two daughters Mrs Mary Ann Hatch and Mrs Elizabeth Lee Lovorn both of Mobile.
