Description	:	Samuel Grooms, son of Joseph W. and Mary J. Grooms, was born at Quitman, Missouri on March 12, 1873 and died February 23, 1920, age 46 years, 11 months and 18 days, growing to manhood in the neighborhood of Sparks, Nebraska, where his parents settled in 1884. Read More	Samuel Grooms, son of Joseph W. and Mary J. Grooms, was born at Quitman, Missouri on March 12, 1873 and died February 23, 1920, age 46 years, 11 months and 18 days, growing to manhood in the neighborhood of Sparks, Nebraska, where his parents settled in 1884. In the year 1895, the father, Joseph W. Grooms died leaving a family of small children to Sam, who was the oldest boy at home, the great care of keeping the home together, where he proved his ability and sterling manhood and succeeded so well that ways and means were provided for a home and education of the younger children. In 1900 he was married to Edith Marks of Valentine and to this union were born eight children, two of whom have been called to rest; the other six with the wife were with him in his last hours. They, a mother, seven brothers, two sisters and twenty-eight nephews and nieces mourn his loss. The body was shipped from Scotts Bluffs where funeral services were conducted by the Rev. N. G. Palmer of the Methodist church and interment was made at Mount Hope Cemetery.
