She was united in marriage to F. K. Spires in England and came to America in the year of 1887 and resided near Clarks for fifty-four years. One daughter, Ada, and five sons Richard, Frederick, Joseph, Robert and Clyde, were born to Mr. and Mrs. Spires. The two oldest sons, Richard and Frederick, preceded her in death. Mrs. Spires was a home loving woman and a devoted mother. She seldom left her home in late years, was quiet and unassuming of manner. She enjoyed having people come to her home. She was a member of the Episcopal Church. Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Dorsey Church of Clarks, three sons, Robert Spires of Clarks, Joseph of Kearney and Clyde of Eldorado, Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. A. Tigerdein of Long Pine Nebr., and Mrs. Harriett Mills of England; one brother, Richard Pentelow of England, and fifteen grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in Clarks, Friday afternoon at two o'clock, with Rev. R. M. Bailey of Polk in charge. With Mrs. S. B. Whetstine as accompanist, Mrs. O. A. Adelson and Mrs. George Beardsley sang "Rock of Ages", "Abide With Me" and "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me." Pall bearers were George Dudney, J. W. Pollard, M. Shonsey, O. A. Bittinger, J. A. Gregg and L.
