Read More	Sarah Elizabeth Webster, daughter of Thomas C. and Nancy Webster, a pioneer family of the Gibbon community, was born at Olean, Indiana., on September 20, 1863, and passed away at the Good Samaritan Hospital on Monday evening, March 19, 1945 at the age of 82 years and nearly six months. She had been in failing health for the past year, her last serious illness covered a period of four weeks and two days. She grew to young womanhood in Indiana, and on August 21, 1880 was united in marriage to Jacob Johnston. in 1886 they moved to Nebraska settling on a farm north of Gibbon, now known as the Overturf place, after which they moved to Sharon township, making that their home. On Sept. 17, 1928 her husband passed away. She leaves to mourn her passing, three daughters and two sons; Mrs. Kay Keesaman, Kearney; Mrs. Daisy Bates, Mason City; Mrs. Art Livingston, Gibbon; Thomas Johnston, Gibbon; and Albert Johnston, Kenesaw. All were at her side at the time of death. Also surviving are two brothers, Corbin Webster of Kearney; and Harrison Webster of Gibbon, besides 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Her father, mother, 4 brothers and 2 sisters preceded her in death. There is no higher eulogy that we can give than to say Mrs. Johnston was a Christian woman. Her home was one in which Godliness, kindness, charity and love predominated. In her early life she accepted Christ and attended the Evangelical Church at Sharon. In August 1937 Mrs. Johnston united with the Gibbon Baptist Church and remained a most faithful member until her death. She was an active member of the Berean Bible class, and will be greatly missed in the class and church as well as in the hearts of immediate loved ones. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Baptist church with the Rev. E.F. Edmonds officiating. The pallbearers are George Livingston, Garnett Livingston, Joe Robinson, Walter Bates, Luther Johnston and William Johnston. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. The Gibbon Reporter March 22, 1945 Page 1, Column 2 The headstone gives 1863 as the year of birth for Sarah Webster Johnston, as does her obituary. Other records indicate she was actually born in 1862.
