In 1878 the family moved from Illinois to a homestead near Wilcox. In 1890 they came to Minden, and in the year 1894, January 24th, Miss Darnell was married to J. B. Cory, of Minden. In 1878 the family moved from Illinois to a homestead near Wilcox. In 1890 they came to Minden, and in the year 1894, January 24th, Miss Darnell was married to J. B. Cory, of Minden. The family have always lived in this city. Two children were born to this union, the daughter, Miss Leila and a son, Paul. In young womanhood Mrs. Cory made confession of her faith in Christ and was baptized in the Christian church. In later years Mrs. Cory renewed her profession by uniting with the Presbyterian church of this city, during the pastorate of Rev. Wilson W. Tait. In the fellowship of the church she died. Mrs. Cory's illness, in its severest form, dates from January of this year. These last months have been marked by a heroic effort to supress the expression of pain in the intense anxiety of mother love to spare her children distress and anxiety about her. Mrs. Cory passed away on Thursday, April 16th, 1914, at her home in east side Minden. Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church, Sunday afternoon, April 19th, being conducted by Rev. R. L. Welch of the United Presbyterian church. The remains were laid to rest in the Minden cemetery.
