Sarah Frances Morford was born at Essex, Ia., October 27, 1860, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Olive Edwards, June 13, 1937, at the age of 16 years, 7 months and 17 days. She moved from Iowa with her parents to Rockport, Mo., where she resided until 1871, after which they came to Hubbell, Neb. It was there she was united in marriage to Zavin Ireland. Sarah Frances Morford was born at Essex, Ia., October 27, 1860, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Olive Edwards, June 13, 1937, at the age of 16 years, 7 months and 17 days. She moved from Iowa with her parents to Rockport, Mo., where she resided until 1871, after which they came to Hubbell, Neb. It was there she was united in marriage to Zavin Ireland. One year later Mr. and Mrs. Ireland moved to a homestead southwest of Chester, where they lived until 1921. They then moved into Chester where she resigned her husband to the God who gave him, June 17, 1931. There was a large family of eleven children, eight of whom of the surviving children were at the bedside when their mother passed away. Two children, Clarence and Lulu and one grown daughter, Mrs. Viva Moser, of Lenora, preceded her in death. The eight children who remain are Mrs. Effie Hazen of Halsey, Neb.; Mrs. Letha Carpenter, Lenora; Howard Ireland, Martin, S.D.; Mrs. Hettie Williams of Patricia, S.D.; Mrs. Eunice Lyons, Superior; Mrs. Merle Redenbo of Belleville; and Oscar Ireland and Mrs. Olive Edward of Chester. Mrs. Ireland also leaves three brothers, Sidney Morford of Santa Barbara, Cal., Henry of Kansas City, Mo., and Richard of Hubbell; also thirty-four grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and many friends. She was received into the Methodist church (sic) and baptized by the Rev. A.O. Hinson in 1907. Failing health prevented her attending church services the past few years, and since March 10, she has been confined to her bed. She was one of the faithful pioneer mothers who has lived to bless the lives of her children far beyond the average age of mothers. Funeral services at the Methodist church (sic) in Chester were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. C.G. Ellis. Burial was at the Chester cemetery (sic).
