Vroman, was born on November 27, 1858 at Willow Creek, Ill. and passed away at her home in Fullerton, Nebraska, September 11, 1939, aged 80 years, 9 months and 17 days. She was married to Orrin S. Finch in 1875 and two years later they moved to what was then a prairie home about five miles north of Fullerton. There amidst the privations and hardships of pioneer life they reared a large family, tow of whom died in infancy, Jennie as a young woman passed away in 1899, and Grace Stark in Clifornia in 1933. Mrs. Hoy leaves to mourn her passing, her husband Col, R. J. Hoy, seven sons as follows: Ernest and Frank of California, Arthur of Goshen, Oregon, John and Bryan of MIddlebranch, Nebraska, Glenn of Gordon, Nebr., and O. S. of Fullerton, two daughters, Mrs. M. C. Fish of Buell, Idaho and Mrs. Forrest Smith of Albion, Nebr. besides 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a large circle of friends of long standing. Tow years after moving to the farm home in Nebraska, Mrs. Finch joined the rural Methoodist chruch at Fairview and was a faithful member of that denomination until her death. On July 25, 1905 Mr. Finch passed away and three years later; she and the younger children of her family moved to Fullerton. There in 1910 she married Samuel R. Bennett and was widowed in Jan. 1911. In 1930 she was married to Col. Rush J. Hoy whose years have been made richer and happier with her companionship. Rev. Moorman told of her: "Of the many admirable virtues of Mrs. Hoy, perhaps the most outstanding was her faithful and persistent church attendance. She was a member and contributer to all the Women's Auxilliaries of the church and was for 80 consecutive years, a member of the Official Board. She was also a member of the Rebekah lodge and the Woodman Circle. Some eight years since she was stricken with a paralytic stroke and was unable to attend church for approximately one year. Since then with the assistance of her devoted son, O. S., she has been absent from her pew but a very few Sundays, until her fatal illness two weeks ago. Her inspiring presence will be sadly missed by the congregation of this church. To her children Mrs. Hoy leaves an enviable legacy; the memory of a devoted Christian mother; her fiends will long cherish the influence of her optimism and elevating ideals. Any community must be a better place in which to live after a woman of Mrs. Hoy's character has spent 52 years of her life in it.
