McLean--Sarah McLean, the wife of Isaac McLean, died at 12:40 o'clock Saturday, April 7, at the family home, 4¾ miles northeast of Hiawatha. She was 45 years old, and came to Hiawatha when only one year old. She was born in Wales. Her father was the late Lewis Morgan, one of Brown county's earliest settlers. In February, 1900, she was married to Isaac McLean, who survives her. A daughter, Nora Belle, 14 years old, also survives. She leaves five brothers, as follows: Prof. I. B. and J. B. Morgan, of Kansas City; David Morgan, of Effingham; Dan Morgan, of Santa Barbara, Calif., and R. B. Morgan, of Hiawatha, and one sister, Mrs. Morgan Walters, of Hiawatha. The Bethel Baptist church membership is deeply grieved over the death of Mrs. McLean. If there was one in the church that was entitled to be called the faithful one, that one most certainly was Mrs. McLean. In the Sunday school her presence was always felt. For several years she taught a class, but this good little woman's strong forte was in the choir, where her rich alto voice could always be heard. She was greatly beloved by all the church folks for untiring and unselfish efforts for the general good of the community. Funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home and burial will be made in the Hiawatha cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------ From the Thur. Morgan, Brewster and William Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. John Morgan, of Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. David Morgan, of Effingham, and Chester and Isaac Morgan, of Ottawa, and Caleb Morgan, of Cairo, Ill., were here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Isaac McLean Monday. Card of Thanks. We wish to express our sincere thanks to friends, neighbors and all who kindly assisted us during the illness, death and burial of our beloved wife and mother. April 14th, 1917, Hiawatha Daily World: GENERAL NEWS. Bethel. Another mother in Israel has entered into her rest. On Saturday morning as the day began to dawn Mrs. Isaac McLean closed her eyes in the sleep of death to open them in the morning of the eternal day. Previous to her death she had suffered intensely, but thru it all she manifested a degree of courage and resignation worthy of the Christian heroine that she was. Hers was a beautiful life of faith and trust. Her gentleness stole into the heart "like the pulse of a summer's evening." She was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed in this community and leaves numerous friends and relatives besides her life companion and daughter to mourn her departure. The beautiful floral tributes attest the regard in which she was held by all regardless of church or social lines. After the tender services in the home, conducted by the Rev. J. C. Morris, of Del Rapids, S. D., she was buried in the beautiful Hiawatha cemetery under a bank of flowers, out where the birds sing in the trees, the flowers bloom and the everlasting stars, "forgetmenots of the angels," look down.
