Read More	Source: The Victor Record 2/20/1919 Sarah Noaker Coats Sarah Noaker Coats was born near Upper Sandusky, Ohio, October 22, and died at her home in Victor, Iowa, Saturday, February 15, 1919, aged 64 years, 3 months and 23 days. She came to Iowa with her parents when but two years age and settled on a farm two miles south of Koszta, Iowa. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to David R. Coats in 1873. To this union was born seven boys and five girls. She was preceded in death by Hattie at ten months and Roy at six years and ten months of age. Her husband also passed from this life on Wednesday, March 30, 1916. She leaves to mourn her loss, a brother, Charles Noaker of Marengo, Iowa, and five sisters, Mrs. Levina Hibbs of Oklahoma, Mrs. John Elliott, Mrs. E. H. Headley and Mrs. F. S. Lanning of Koszta, Iowa and Mrs. N. C. Bale of Ruthven, Iowa. Her children, all of who were at home with her at some time during her last sickness and at this time are as follows: Willard E., Mrs. Frank Mohr and Miss Elva, of Victor, Iowa; H. L. of Cedar Rapids; H. M., Mrs. Chester David and J. V., of Cedar, Iowa; D. B. of Leport, Colo., C. H. of Brooklyn, Iowa, and Mrs. John Heller of Curlew, Iowa. She was also able to count 32 grandchildren in her family circle of living relatives. Mrs. Coats and her family had been residents of Iowa county near Victor and Ladora ever since their marriage and retired from the farm to Victor, Iowa, about five years ago. She had been a woman of unusual health until she suffered an attack of heart failure about six years ago. Since May of last year she has been in a failing condition until the end came. She has been uniformly patient in all her sickness and has rallied to every effort that has been made for her temporary or permanent relief. She was converted when 16 years of age at a District M. E. camp meeting at Koszta, Iowa, and united with the Methodist Episcopal church of which church she has since been a member. She lived to make the Christian life real to those who lived about her and was made happy indeed to see the fruit of her devotion realized in the conversion of her husband and her entire family to the Christ she loved and served. Her interest in the religious welfare of these about her was unfailing and although for long deprived of the privileges of public worship, she always enjoyed the religious exercises conducted in her home. She loved life and was devoted in her friendships, but her will was bent in conformity as she realized the end was near in her passing there has gone a loving mother, a devoted Christian, a good and interested neighbor and a kind friend. Heaven is richer because of what we suffer in our loss. The funeral services were conducted by the pastor R. Vernon Pike, from the Methodist Episcopal church, Tuesday, February 18, at 2:00 p.m., and interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Victor, Iowa.
