Anderson Wednesday Afternoon Sever Anderson, a well-known resident of Union county, S.D., passed away in his sleep early Monday morning, January 25, 1943, in Elk Point, S.D. Two years ago he suffered a severe illness, since which time his health has not been good. Contracting a bad cold, he consulted a doctor last week. He was able to be up and about the house even up to Sunday evening, but succumbed to a heart attack. He attained the age of 66 years, 7 months and 5 days. Sever Olaus Anderson was born in Sioux Valley township, Union county, S.D., June 20, 1876, of parents, Paul and Anna Anderson, early settlers in that community. He was baptized and confirmed in the St. Paul Lutheran church, of which he has always been a member. During his youth, he assisted his parents on the farm, and later engaged in farming for himself for a number of years, after which he did trucking. He never married. The past few years he lived with relatives and friends, and recently with Mr. and Mrs. Ole Olson in Elk Point, in whose home he passed away. Left to mourn his departure are five sisters and one brother: Mrs. Mary Sandness, of Beresford, S.D.; Mrs. Peter Quam, Mrs. Nels Quam, Mrs. Lewis Helseth, Mrs. Edward Hofland and Peter Anderson, all of Union county. His parents, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Anderson was held in high esteem by all who knew him. His jovial and easy-going nature gained him a wide circle of friends, by whom he will be genuinely missed, and who extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. D.L. Jacobson on January 27, at 1:30 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Elk Point and at 2 p. m. in the St. Paul Lutheran church. Burial was in the St. Paul cemetery. Pallbearers were six nephews, Howard Powell, Elmer Quam, Merlin Hofland, Lloyd Helseth, Norrel Quam and Tillman Anderson.
