The misspelling of Spencer's last name on the marker may have been a stone-cutting error or may be the error of his surviving half-brothers who had changed the spelling of their name to "Beane". 2. There is much confusion between Spencer C. Bean and Spencer J. Bean (who is also buried in Forest Oak Cemetery): Spencer C. Bean married Ethel S. Whipp in 1904 and they had one child, Earl (1904-1968). Ethel died in 1934 in New York City and is buried with her sister, Pearl, in Congressional Cemetery. Spencer J. Bean married Julia Milstead in 1918 and they had one child, Graham (1919-1926). Spencer J., Julia and their son, Graham, are buried together. 3. The Elizabeth Bean who was attached to the memorials of Ethel Whipp Bean and Spencer J. Bean as a "child" is actually the wife of Colmore W. Bean and is unrelated to either of these families.
