She was a instructor at Mount St. Scholastica College in summers, 1934-1940, having begun with the institution’s first summer session in 1934. She became a professor on the regular staff, from 1940-1969 and served as chairman of the psychology department from 1952-1969. She was Isabel Cawley born February 12, 1902, near Arrington. Ks, the daughter of Thomas and Mary McAsey Cawley. She completed elementary school at District 63 in Atchison County and attended Mount St. Scholastica Academy for three years, graduating from Valley Falls High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Kansas State Teachers College , Emporia and a doctorate in psychology and religious education from Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. Sister Anne joined the Benedictine Sisters in Atchison in 1931 and celebrated vows of religion in 1933. She was a member of the American Benedictine Academy and a charter member and held lifetime membership in the American Psychological Association and Kansas Psychological Association . She was elected to Kappa Delta Pi, honor society for teachers. Sister Anne was the Benedictine Sisters supervisor for secondary schools from 1945-1947 and coordinator of Friend of Brazil, financial support group of Mount St. Scholastica’s foreign missionaries from 1969-1989. She was listed in several editions of Who’s Who publications and printed papers on topics of psychology and counseling. She authored many published book reviews and other articles, particularly on topics of psychology, counseling, and religion. She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Survivors include a sister, Amy Cawley, Rogers, Arkansas; a niece and a number of nephews.
