Read More	Sister Pierre Cavanaugh (July 8, 1914 - March 4, 1992) Sister Pierre Cavanaugh, 77, a former area teacher, passed away on March 4, 1992, in Mount St. Scholastica, Atchison, KS, where she lived. She was born in Lohrville, IA on July 8, 1914. Sister Pierre wrote for The Leaven, formerly called The Eastern Kansas Register, for the last 20 years. She also was a photographer for the newspaper. She taught English and speech at Donnelly College from 1972 to 1981. Earlier she taught English, speech, drama and journalism at Bishop Lillis High School in Kansas City and St. Joseph's High School in Shawnee and was an English professor at Mount St. Scholatica College in Atchison. She formerly was a principal and a teacher at Saints Peter and Paul High School in Seneca, KS. She also taught at schools in Omaha, NE, Fort Smith, AR, Tulsa, OK, baileyville, KS, and Portsmouth, IA. She taught for 40 years. Sister Pierre received a bachelor's degree in English in 1944 from Creighton University, Omaha. She joined the Benedictine Sisters in Atchison in 1940 and made her vows as a nun in 1941. Survivors include three brotherS; Clement F. Cavanaugh, helena, MT, Dr. Clair J. Cavanaugh, Great Bend, KS, and Dr. Leonard Cavanaugh, Climbing Hill, IA, and two sisters; Marcella Judson, Indianapolis, IN and Marilyn Mullen, Williamston, MI. Services will e a 10 a.m. Saturday in the St. Scholastica Chapel at Mount St. Scholastica with burial in the Benedictine Sisters Cemetery, Atchison. Prayer vigil services will be at 7 p.m., today at the chapel. Contributions are suggested to the Benedictine Sisters, Mount St. Scholastica, Atchison, KS.
