Read More	Havre Daily News (MT), 27 May 1946 Steven Bickford Drowns at Fresno Dam. 15-Year-Old Havre Boy Slipped Into Water Below Spillway Steven Eugene Bickford, 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Bickford of 336 West First street, Havre, was drowned about noon Sunday at Fresno dam. The boy was fishing from the cement ledge below the dam powerhouse with a young friend, when he slipped and fell into the rocks of the spillway section below the dam. Companions who had been fishing with young Bickford, after failing in attempts to pull the youth from the basin, walked to the top of the dam, across the bridge and to the home of Walt Willard for aid in recovering the body. Willard closed down the lake outlet before the body could be recovered. Companions said that after attempts to pull Bickford from the water had failed, the youth floated around the stilling basin for a time clinging to a board. It was estimated he was in the water about two hours when his body was recovered. Respiratory equipment was rushed to the scene from Havre, but efforts at revival were not successful. Active in athletics and in the junior high school band, young Bickford was a student in the seventh grade. He was born in Havre on December 21, 1930. Besides his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Raymond Staples of Havre, Mrs. Forrest Coe of Eureka, Calif., and Peggy Bickford of Havre; four brothers, Max of Portland, Ore., and Russell, Wade and Floyd of Havre.
