Parents and children are often buried in the same plot, but ownership of the plot may not be clear. -------- Fairfield Daily Ledger Friday Sept. 1, 1933 MRS. REGESTER IS SUMMONED IN DES MOINES Funeral Arrangements Not Yet Completed For Local Woman Mrs. Nathan REGESTER, who would have been 75 years old this coming October, died this morning at 9:00 o'clock in a Des Moines hospital, after an extended illness. The remains will be brought to Fairfield this evening and the funeral arrangements will be announced later. The Murray Funeral directors will be in charge. The body will be accompanied by Mrs. Howard INGHRAM, of Wichita, Kan., who has been with Mrs. REGESTER while in the Des Moines hospital. Mr. REGESTER was also in Des Moines at the time of her death. Mrs. REGESTER is survived by her husband (sic. Nathan B REGESTER, who himself died just a few months later, on April 1, 1934) and a nephew and adopted son, Howard INGHRAM, of Wichita, Kans. Mrs. REGESTER's two brothers preceeded her in death. She is also survived by six other nieces and nephews. Mrs. REGESTER, who was born October 21, 1858, was very well known in Jefferson County. She was a member of the Plum Grove Methodist church and she leaves many friends in the farm vicinty north of Fairfield. Of late years the REGESTERs have made their home in Fairfield, at 201 West Grimes St. -------------- Fairfield Ledger September 8, 1933 OBITUARY MRS. NATHAN REGESTER Mrs. Sue Regester, daughter of Arthur and Mary Jane ((Coen)) Inghram, was born in Quincy, Illinois, on October 21st, 1858 and passed from this life Sept. 1st, 1933. On March 31st, 1875, she was united with Nathan B. Regester at which time they settled on a farm three miles north of Fairfield, Iowa, where they made their home for nearly half a century. She and her husband united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Pleasant Grove where her membership remained until the time of her death. Not having any children of their own they adopted her nephew, Howard Ingram whose parents, Thomas Inghram and wife, had died when she son was a very young child. She also made a home for some time for his sister, Cecil Inghram, and gave her a mother's care. She is survived by her husband and six nephews and nieces: Howard Inghram of Wichita, Kansas, Cecil Van Nuys, Maywood, Illinois and by the children of her brother and his sister - Uriah and Annie Inghram; Burrel and Rilla, of Colorado, Bert of Davenport and May Davidson, of Agency also Delda of Chicago. About ten years ago they retired from the farm life and settled in Fairfield at 201 West Grimes street. While they lived in the country she was very active in the home church and was a very deep student of the Holy Scripture. Most of her pallbearers were members of her former Sunday school class where they received their early conceptions of life as a great Christian service. She richly enjoyed her social life in the N.I.C. club which is composed largely of the old friends of Pleasant Grove church community. She was of a very pleasing disposition and bore all cares with a smile. Her very large circle of friends will long remember her for her sweet and charming character.
