Mrs. Bender was born July 7, 1908 in Custer County, Okla. to John D. and Catherine Miller Yoder. She attended rural school in Oklahoma. She married David H. Bender on Jan. 6, 1935, in Johnson County. He died Nov. 27, 1980. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Henry Bender of Harrisburg, Ore., and Enos Bender of Washington; five daughters, Anna Goode of Phoenix, Ariz., Mary Edna Bender of Kalona, Mabel Burkholder of LaGrange, Ind., Esther Bender of Kalona and Sarah Mae Swartzendruber of Phoenix; 15 grandchildren; 115 great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Miller of Hutchinson, Kan.; and two brothers, Henry J. Yoder of Sarasota, Fla., and John J.K. Yoder of Hutchinson. A daughter, Katie Bender; a son, Harvey Bender; two brothers, Tobe Yoder and Daniel Yoder; and two sisters, Fannie Yoder and Edna Yoder, died earlier.
