She was born in Chelan, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Bieber) Snyder, and was one of 11 children. After graduating from Chelan High School in 1940, she 'tried' to pack apples for a short time. She was then employed with General Telephone. On May 20, 1944, she was married to Darlton Cannon at Chelan. They purchased and operated the 'old' Lakeside Grocery store, which had been moved to the present Lakeside when the lake was raised with the completion of the Chelan Dam. They owned the store from 1946 until 1958. After selling the Lakeside Grocery, she was employed at Sperry's Grocery for six years. From 1969, until her retirement in 1982, she was a checker at Safeway. She is survived by her two sons, Steve (Sally) Cannon and granddaughter, Kellie, of Manson; and Rick Cannon and grandson, Kramer, of Chelan; her brother, Harold "John" (Joyce) Snyder of Chelan; sister-in-law, Gert Snyder of Waterville; numerous nieces and nephews, including Meredith (Bob) Beeson of Chelan; and a special niece (like a daughter), Kathleen Jensenn of Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002; her parents; her brothers, Ralph, Russel, Frank, Carl, George "Doc" and Howard; and her sisters, Eleanor, Jessie and June. Not wanting to make work for anyone, Susie wrote her own obituary and left guidance for her service which will take place Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at North Shore Bible Church, Manson, with Pastor Craig Rayment officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will follow the reception at Fraternal Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wenatchee Valley Humane Society or Lake Chelan Community Hospital Foundation. Services have been entrusted to Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
