Ted's family came to MT in 1913 and homesteaded in the Goldstone community north of Rudyard. Ted attended the Goldstone Country School near the farm. He was one of six children born to Ellen Tealey and Joseph H. Langel. Ted's family came to MT in 1913 and homesteaded in the Goldstone community north of Rudyard. Ted attended the Goldstone Country School near the farm. Following his formal education he began working on the farm with his folks. On January 7th, 1928 he married Evelyn L Narestad at Havre. They continued farming together during their married life. In 1936 they moved into Rudyard. Ted managed the Farmer's Union Oil Station in Rudyard for nine years. He retired from farming in 1970, but continued to help with the farming operations until his health failed about four years ago. Ted moved to the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in Havre in the fall of 1989 and has resided there since. He died at the Northern Montana Hospital in Havre on the morning of Tues., Feb. 20th, at the age of 83 years. Ted was a longtime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rudyard. He was an active board member of the Rudyard Service and Improvement Association during those early years when the water and sewer lines were first installed. He had also been a loyal supporter of the Farmer's Union Elevator & Oil Company. Ted enjoyed woodworking and carpentry, and he had made wooden toys for children. In his younger years he enjoyed playing whist and pinochle. He always had a large vegetable garden each year and his greatest love was working on the farm. Although he was very content to be at home, he did enjoy taking trips with Netes or spending weekends at their Apgar cabin. Ted loved his family and appreciated his wife (last month they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.) Ted is survived by his wife, Netes of Rudyard; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Marj of Rudyard; a grandson, Brandon; two sisters, Mrs. Hayes (Trade) Starks and Mrs. Clifford (Dorothy) Hodgdon, both of Mesa, Arizona; and numerous nephews and nieces. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, by an infant son, and by three brothers (Arnold, Henry and Robert). Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 23rd, at the Rudyard Lutheran Church. Reverend Jeff Olsgaard officiated. The congregation sang "In the Garden", accompanied by organist, Stanleigh Barbie. Vocal tributes "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages" were performed by Terry Stevenson. Ushers were Fred Rigg and Howard Conquergood. Pallbearers were Bob Christenson, Kenny Heydon and Gerald, Duaine, Richard and Stanley Langel. Old friends serving as honorary bearers included Morris Smith, Leonard Poier, Roland Ritter, Selmar Sanvik, Thomas Wilson, Sam Berge and Morris Ewald. Interment was in the Rudyard Cemetery.
