Read More	Liberty County Times, Chester, MT, 15 Dec 1977 FUNERAL HELD FOR HENRY LANGEL, 85 Henry Joseph Langel, a Rudyard resident, who has been residing at the Park Place Nursing Home in Great Falls for the past five months, passed away at the Columbus Hospital on December 7th at the age of 85 years. He was born at Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, on February 19, 1892 and was the son of Joseph and Ellen (Tealey) Langel. In 1913 he came to Montana to a homestead located in the Goldstone Community north of Rudyard. He served his country in World War I with the 348th Heavy Artillery battalion and was on the firing lines on November 11, 1918 (the day the Armistice was signed). He then went to Germany with the Army of Occupation for a year. On his return to Montana he farmed and later worked for the International Harvester Company at both Inverness and Rudyard. He also had his own repair shop (mechanics) for awhile. In later years he was a rural mail carrier and caretaker at the Rudyard Cemetery. On June 5, 1933 he was united in marriage at Havre with Lydia Krueger, who survives him. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Rudyard and past member of the local VFW post. Survivors include the wife, Lydia of Rudyard; two brothers, Ted and Bob of Rudyard; 2 sisters, Mrs. Hayes (Tracy) Starks and Mrs. Clifford (Dorothy) Hodgdon, both of Mesa. Arizona; and many nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 12th at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rudyard. The sermon was given by Reverend Donald Ryding of Havre (past minister of St. John's in Rudyard) and the liturgy was handled by Reverend Wayne Pris (of Our Savior's). The congregation sang, The Old Rugged Cross" and "Just As I Am." "In the Garden" was sang by Alberta Langel, accompanied by Jeanne Gorder. Pallbearers were Robert Brandt, Lloyd Kaercher, and Duaine, Richard, Gerald and StanIey Langel. Ushers were Gary Brandt and Fred Elling. Interment was in the Rudyard Cemeteiy. Military rites were conducted by the Rudyard VFW Post.
