Read More	Obituary Old Pioneer Passes Away - Theodore Hoss, Sr., Passes Away After an Illness of Several Weeks Theodore Hoss, Senior Mr. Theodore Hoss, Senior, one of the oldest pioneer settlers of Lewis county, and a respected resident of Centralia for the last twenty years, died on Tuesday at the home of his son, Theodore Hoss, junior, on Main Street. The cause of death was old age, Mr. Hoss being over 83 years of age at the time of his death. Theodore Hoss, Sr., was born in Areweiler, Prussia, in 1824 and resided in Prussia and Germany until 1854, being married to Miss Clara Kupers in Eiskerchan, Germany, in 1852. In 1854 the family moved to the United States, settling at Casville, Wis., where they resided until 1868. While living in Wisconsin Mr. Hoss enlisted and served during the latter part of the civil war. In 1868 the family moved to Fremont, Neb., and resided there until 1876, when they came to Washington and settled near Little Falls, where they engaged in farming. In 1887 they disposed of their interests there and removed to this city where they have since made their home. Mrs. Hoss died 11 years ago last December. Mr. Hoss was an honored member of the local G.A.R. and was always prominent in the affairs of the organization. He leaves five children, one daughter, Mrs. Maria Ducher, and four sons, Charlee, Herman, Theodore and William, all residents of this city. The funeral was held on Thursday from the Presbyterian church, Rev. H. W. Thompson officiating, under the auspices of the G.A.R. The interment was made in the Washington Lawn cemetery.
