While Mrs. Daiker has been in feelbe health ever since last spring, she was confined to her bed only during the last week of her illness. About a week prior to her death she was able to come to Carroll and there was then little or no expectation that death was so near at hand. Theresa Reiber was born in Bechtensweilen, Hochingen, Germany, November 9, 1836, and was therefore nearly 77 years of age at the time of her death. Her early life was spent in her native country. In 1860 she was married to John Daiker, who surives her. Shortly after marriage they came to this country settling first at Fort Wayne, Ind. From there they moved later to Ogla County, Illinois, and then to Stevenson County, in the same state, where they lived near Freeport. Six children were born to them all of whom live to mourn the death of their mother. They are John P., Peter, Grace, George, Emma, now Mrs. Goecke, and Frederick. All of these reside in Carroll county in the neighborhood of Carroll. The family moved to Carroll county in 1869, settling on the farm which has ever since been their home and where the death occurred last Saturday. The deceased was a faithful member of SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in this city. She was devoted to her home and her family and it is in the home circle that her true worth was best known. The funeral was held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the church of which she was a member and interment was made in the cemetery of that parish. A nephew of the deceased, Frank Reiber, was here from Kent, Minnesota, to attend the funeral services.
