Description	:	May 2, 1918 - Carroll Daily - John Daiker died at the home of his son, Peter, three miles north of Carroll, Friday, April 26, after an illness of eleven days with heart trouble. Mr. Daiker had been in poor health however for over a year, suffering with this trouble. He was born in Prussia, Germany, April 4, 1834, and came to America in 1869, with his bride, who was Miss Theresia Reiber. Read More	May 2, 1918 - Carroll Daily - John Daiker died at the home of his son, Peter, three miles north of Carroll, Friday, April 26, after an illness of eleven days with heart trouble. Mr. Daiker had been in poor health however for over a year, suffering with this trouble. He was born in Prussia, Germany, April 4, 1834, and came to America in 1869, with his bride, who was Miss Theresia Reiber. They first settled in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but after a short time moved to Freeport, Illinois, where he was the manager of a lumber company for nine years. Their next move was to Carroll county to their old homeplace which the son, Peter, is now farming. Mr. Daiker was an upright, reliable man and a firm believer in the Catholic church in which faith he died. Funeral services were held at the St. Lawrence church Monday morning and he was buried in S.S. Peter and Paul's cemetery. Mrs. Daiker died October 19, 1913, and of the six children five are left to mourn their father's death. The children are as follows: John P., of Carroll; Peter, of Carroll; George, (deceased); Fred W., of Green, Iowa; Emma (Mrs. John Goecke), of Carroll, and Grace, a trained nurse of this city. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren.
