The body is resting at the Sharp Funeral Home where the rosary, led by the Rev. Fr. Kollanch, will be prayed at 8 o'clock tonight. Mr. Daiker's death, caused by a heart condition, followed a week's illness. He became ill while visiting in the Gruber home. A son of John and Theresa Daiker, Mr. Daiker was born May 9, 1862, in Oakley County, near Freeport, Ill. He was eight years old when he came to Carroll county in March, 1870, with his parents, who settled on a farm three and one-quater miles north of Carroll. He was married to Mary Catherine Neuerburg October 4, 1887, at SS. Peter and Paul's church here. The late Rev. Fr. Nacke officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Daiker established their home on a farm two and three-quater miles north of Carroll,where Mr. Daiker lived until his death. His wife died March 28, 1904. Surviving are four children: Mrs. Gruber (Anna), Emmetsburg; John A. Daiker, Auburn; William and Julius, on the home farm; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mr. Daiker was the last of the John Daiker family. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by three children: John and Matthew in infancy, and Colette at the age of four months.
