His obituary in the Carroll Free Press, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, March 3, 1904. Thomas Capper died Tuesday after a brief illness from pneumonia. The funeral services will be held Thursday, the friends gathering at the home, near Lamartine, at 10 o'clock. Interment will be made at the Perrysville M. E. Church. As a citizen of sterling character, Mr. Capper was widely known throughout the county. During the Civil War, he served as a member of the Ninety-eighth Regiment, O.V.I. making an excellent record. The remainder of his life was spent in Carroll County. Besides a wife, he leaves four children, as follows: Mrs. Samuel Shultz and Garfield Capper of Alliance, Howard and Joan Capper, who live at the old home. The deceased was a brother of the late James Capper and of William Capper. The surviving sisters are Mrs. Albert Tipton, Mrs. Amanda Deets and Mrs. Angeline Figley. Mrs. Capper and her daughter, Miss Joan, are both confined to their beds by illness.
