Born in Woodruff, he was a son of the late Seaborn Earle and Stella Owings Thackston. Read More	FOUNTAIN INN, SC Thomas Charles "Charlie" Thackston, 85, of 207 Oakland Way, died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at his home. Born in Woodruff, he was a son of the late Seaborn Earle and Stella Owings Thackston. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Fountain Inn First Baptist Church where he was an active Sunday School Teacher for most of his adult life, and formally served as a Deacon at Welford Baptist Church. Mr. Thackston served as the Chief of Fountain Inn Volunteer Fire Department for 14 years, served on the Fountain Inn City Council for many years, and was Mayor Pro-tem. He was the owner of Thackston's Garage for 32 years and was a member of Fountain Inn Rotary Club where he formerly served as President. Surviving are his wife, Wilda Patton Thackston; two daughters, Pam Thackston Riddle and husband Ashley, Connie Thackston Gecy and husband Bob; two brothers, J.T. Thackston, Cecil Thackston; a sister, Virginia Osteen; seven grandchildren, Chas Riddle and wife Courtney, Cole Riddle, Caleb Riddle, Christopher Riddle, Robert, Ben and Brian Gecy and their families of Beaufort; and a great-grandson, Rivers Riddle. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Ada Lee Phillips Thackston; an infant son, Thomas Thackston; a daughter, Catherine Ruth Thackston; four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Fountain Inn First Baptist Church with Revs. Mike Bearden and Johnny Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in Cannon Memorial Park. The Farrow Sunday School Class, Fountain Inn Fire Department and Simpsonville Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
