Ross Sackman will officiate. Thomas G. Griffin, third oldest of a family of ten children born to Michael Griffin and Catherine Murray, was born Dec. 23, 1887, 7 1/2 miles southwest of Glasco, and died Nov. 5, 1978, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Concordia. Tom attended the Columbia District 6 School, grew up and spent his entire life in the Glasco and Simpson area. When a young man he took up the meat cutting trade which he followed for several years. On Sept. 24, 1907, he was united in marriage to Emma C. Beck and they started housekeeping at Barnard, KS, where he was employed in a meat market, later moving to Minneapolis where he followed his trade. In 1911 they purchased the "John Tolg" farm south of Simpson and started farming. It was here their only child was born, Faye Avanel, on Aug. 21, 1921. Tom continued farming until he lost his wife March 7, 1958, at which time he sold the farm and moved to a small home in Simpson. On Nov. 15, 1974, he lost his daughter, Faye, and as his health started failing, he moved into Nicol Home, Glasco, Dec. 22, 1975. It was here that he suffered a stroke and after eight days at the St. Joseph Hospital, he departed this life on Nov. 5, 1978, at the age of 90 years and ten months. He is survived by two sisters Mary Ellen (Griffin) Shaw of Nicol Home, Glasco, and Gertrude Griffin of Denver, CO.; and a sister-in-law Nona Griffin and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. Interment will be in the Glasco Cemetery. Designated pallbearers were Douglas Newland, Dale Chapman, Clarence McDonald, Max Hoesli Jr., Gene Mihm, J.G. Griffin. ---
