Description	:	Thomas H. Arps, 74, of Napoleon, Ohio passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at his home. He was born on May 15, 1943 in Defiance, Ohio to the late Henry (Hank) and Hilda Marie Arps. He married Sharon Olmstead on May 15, 1982 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon and she survives. Tom worked at Gerken Construction for 14 years and a few years at Napoleon Spring. He then started his transmission business repairing transmissions and retiring later in 2009. Tom was very inventive especially when it came to fixing things. He will be most remembered for his truck... Read More	Thomas H. Arps, 74, of Napoleon, Ohio passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at his home. He was born on May 15, 1943 in Defiance, Ohio to the late Henry (Hank) and Hilda Marie Arps. He married Sharon Olmstead on May 15, 1982 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon and she survives. Tom worked at Gerken Construction for 14 years and a few years at Napoleon Spring. He then started his transmission business repairing transmissions and retiring later in 2009. Tom was very inventive especially when it came to fixing things. He will be most remembered for his truck pulling and owner of the Black Widow. He was in the truck and tractor pulling family for over 40 years. He was a member of the NTPA Pulling Association, Wolverine Pullers, and the Ohio State Pulling Association. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon. He enjoyed listening to polka music and tinkering in his shop. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Amy Jo Arps (Jim Buchhop) of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio; sisters, Janice (Tavi) Prundeanu of Dexter, Michigan, Karen (Ed) Gerken of Defiance, Ohio, Phyllis (Kenny) Miller of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, and Joann (Terry) Robinson of Garrett, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Interment will follow the service at St. Mark's Cemetery in Defiance, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 15 at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon or CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice.
