(Source: Illinois Marriage Records) ========================================= The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, January 20, 1927 Thomas J. Rennick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Rennick, was born at Montreal, Canada, on January 17, 1847. He moved from Canada with his parents and family to Toulon, Illinois, in 1867. He was united in marriage to Lettie A. Bowers of Toulon, Illinois, on September 1, 1872. Mrs. Rennick preceded him in death April 30, 1920. To this union were born three sons: Frederick B., Ernest C., and Onslow E. Mr. Rennick and family moved to Nuckolls county (sic) to his farm northeast of Nelson in 1879. He resided there until 1919, when he and his wife moved into Nelson for retirement. He passed away in his home in Nelson at three o'clock January 14, 1927, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 28 days, after a brief illness. Mr. Rennick was confirmed in the Episcopalian church when about fifteen years old. Later he joined the Baptist church and was affiliated with that organization until it was discontinued in Nelson, when he united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in Nelson of which he was a faithful member until his death. Mr. Rennick had five brothers and three sisters. One brother, Hamilton J. of Toulon, Illinois and one sister Sarah Chaffee of Wyoming, Illinois, preceded him in death. Those who remain are William of Toulon, Ills.; Percival G. of Peoria, Ills.; Richard of Los Angeles, Calif.; Frank of Nelson, Nebr.; Elizabeth Mix of Creston, Iowa; and Mary Mitchell of Portland, Oregon. The funeral service was held in the Nelson Methodist church Saturday, at two o'clock, conducted by the pastor Vincent R. Beebe. A quartet from the Methodist choir sang appropriate selections. A large number of neighbors and friends were present to sympathize with the bereaved and evidence their respect for the departed. The body was laid to rest in the Nelson cemetery (sic).
