Description	:	T. L. Lambert passed away at his home Saturday afternoon. Although he had not been well the past few months he was only confined to his bed a week. He had recently been to Iowa City, hoping to receive relief from his illness which was caused by cancer. Lambert passed away at his home Saturday afternoon. Although he had not been well the past few months he was only confined to his bed a week. He had recently been to Iowa City, hoping to receive relief from his illness which was caused by cancer. Thomas Lambert Burwell was born September 8, 1854, and died December 18, 1926, at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 9 days. He was born in Ashland county, Ohio, but his parents came to Cedar county, Iowa, when he was only a babe, six weeks old. At that time the emmigration was via the overland route. They crossed the Mississippi river at Davenport on a small boat with a hand power driver. In 1880 he moved to Merrick county, Nebr., but only stayed there three years, coming back to Plymouth county, Iowa, where he lived until 1910, when he moved to a farm northeast of Marathon. In 1916 the family moved to the present home in Marathon. October 1, 1876, he was married to Luella Jane Huff. They had the pleasure of observing their golden wedding anniversary October 1st of this year, when all their children were present. Besides his wife, he is survived by the seven children, Mrs. Myrtle Chase, Mrs. Nellie Clark, Miss Sylvia Burwell and Walter Burwell, of Marathon: Mrs. Maggie Jeffers of Akron; L. C. Burwell, of Carroll, and Mrs. Florence Essick, of Webb. Also 28 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, two brothers, Amos of Kimball Nebr., and C. S. of Swedenburg, Nebr. He was a loving and unselfish husband, a thoughtful and self denying father, a good neighbor and a man liked by all for his friendly ways. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. lodge, who had charge of the burial services. The funeral was held at the M. E. church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Briggs. Interment was in the Marathon cemetery.
