Description	:	Luella Jane Huff, the third child in a family of nine, was born on January 30, 1860, in Cedar county, Iowa, and died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Clark, near Marathon, Iowa, on March 2, 1934, at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 2 days. Read More	Luella Jane Huff, the third child in a family of nine, was born on January 30, 1860, in Cedar county, Iowa, and died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Clark, near Marathon, Iowa, on March 2, 1934, at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 2 days. Deceased made her home with her parents until she was married to Thomas Lambert Burwell at Lowden, Iowa, on October 1, 1876. They made their home in Lowden for several years and moved to Nebraska in 1881. In the fall of 1883 they moved to Plymouth county, Iowa, and in 1910 to a farm northeast of Marathon, Iowa. They lived in the vicinity of Marathon until 1915, when Mr. Burwell retired and the family moved to Marathon. Following the death of her husband on December 18, 1926, Mrs. Burwell had made her home with her children, having stayed with her son, Lee of Carroll, Iowa, for the past six months until a few weeks before her death. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Burwell: Lee C. of Carroll, Iowa; Mrs. Myrtle Chase, Mrs. Nellie Clark and Sylvia of Marathon; Walter S. of Storm Lake, Iowa; Mrs. Maggie Jeffers of Akron, Iowa, and Mrs. Florence Essick of Dickens, Iowa. Besides the children there remain four brothers, Clarence and Chester Huff of Daytona Beach, Fla., Walter of Palmer, Nebraska, and Charles of Broken Bow, Nebraska. Also thirty-two grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Burwell was always a kind and helpful neighbor. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, holding her membership in Marathon at the time of her death. The Bible was very dear to her, the following passages being especially helpful: "There has no temptation taken you but such as men can bear; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it." - I Cor. 10:13 and "And they overcome him because of the blood of the lamb, and because of the word of their testimony; and they loved not their life even unto death." - Rev. 12:11
