Description	:	Thomas York I is the seventh child of ten children born to Jeremiah York and his wife Sarah Wilson. When Thomas was two years old his parents gathered up their possessions, his four brothers, one sister and loaded them on a wagon. They migrated westward on the old Monocracy Wagon Road to their new home at the Pipe Creek settlement below Keyma, Carroll County, in central Maryland. Two more brothers were born in their new home. Read More	Thomas York I is the seventh child of ten children born to Jeremiah York and his wife Sarah Wilson. When Thomas was two years old his parents gathered up their possessions, his four brothers, one sister and loaded them on a wagon. They migrated westward on the old Monocracy Wagon Road to their new home at the Pipe Creek settlement below Keyma, Carroll County, in central Maryland. Two more brothers were born in their new home. By 1732/1733 the Jeremiah York I family with eight young children migrated further west to a new homestead on the beautiful "Terrapin Neck" peninsular. The Jeremiah York family was certainly living in Frederick County, Virginia Colony on part of a 2,300 acre tract of land called "Terrapin Neck", a high plateau south of the Potomac River by 25 Oct 1736. There another brother and sister were added to the family Thomas York age twenty married his friend and neighbor nineteen year old Elinor Aldridge about 1747 in Terrapin Neck, Colonial Fredericks County, Virginia (now Jefferson County, West Virginia) near the Potomac River. Following the tragedies of the French and Indian War the York's migrated south west in a wagon train with other families down the Shenandoah Valley. Then through the Appalachian Mountains at Roanoke, Virginia then south into colonial Orange (now Randolph) County, North Carolina and settled in the Sandy Creek Community. Thomas York and Elinor Aldridge had seven children; five of which were born on their farm in Terrapin Neck. Their two youngest children were born in North Carolina. Thomas York and his wife Elinor Aldridge are buried beside each other in the Sandy Creek Baptist Church cemetery. They were believed to be active lifetime members of the Sandy Creek Baptist Church since they are buried next to their pastor Rev. Shubal STEARNS.
