Description	:	Tidence LANE Sr is the eight child of thirteen born to John LANE Jr. and his wife Susannah Clarissa YORK. Tidence was name after his grandfather Rev Tidence LANE a pioneer minister to east Tennessee ordained by Rev Shubal Stearns of the Sandy Creek Baptist Church. According to the 1830 and 1840 US Census Tidence LANE was born about 1780. He is not in the 1850 census so most likely he died in 1845 per the tombstone. The Tidence LANE tombstone is engraved with an error of "AGE ABOUT 85" and the misspelling of his name. The Tombstone should be corrected to read "AGE ABOUT 65". The engraver must have had poor notes or lack of attention and confusion to his task. For whatever the reason for these errors perhaps they included possible poor eye sight due to cataracts or intoxication Tidence LANE married Rebecca CRAVEN on 1798 in Randolph County, North Carolina.
