Description	:	Ulrich was born in Germany. After his wife passed away, Grandfather Ulrich Hirschler came to Nebraska and lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Magdalene and John P. Andreas. The following is from A Brief History of the Hirschlers: "Our great-grandparents lived at Quirnheim, Rheinpfalz. They had five children, but great-grandfather was married two times. From the first union there were two sons, Stephanus and Jacob. Stephanus lived at Geroldsheim, Rheinpfalz, and Jacob lived near Tann. Then there were three sons and two daughters from the second marriage. They lived at Quirnheim until 1840 when they moved to Meizbrunn, Bavaria. Here... Read More	Ulrich was born in Germany. After his wife passed away, Grandfather Ulrich Hirschler came to Nebraska and lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Magdalene and John P. Andreas. The following is from A Brief History of the Hirschlers: "Our great-grandparents lived at Quirnheim, Rheinpfalz. They had five children, but great-grandfather was married two times. Then there were three sons and two daughters from the second marriage. They lived at Quirnheim until 1840 when they moved to Meizbrunn, Bavaria. Here they lived near to grandfather and a Harmetz who had married grandfather’s sister. In 1845 grandfather returned to Rheinpalz to get his (wife?), Elizabeth Krehbiel, who was born in 1824 at Weirhof. They then took over the place at Meisbrunn where his parents, our great-grandparents, lived with them. Our grandfather’s name was Ulrich and one of his brothers was named Christian who lived at Lazenried. Another brother, Daniel, immigrated to America and lived at Sommerfield, Illinois. At Meisbrunn (Mais Brunn Bayern), where our grandparents and the Harmetz family lived, each family farmed about 80 acres. The entire place was walled in with a brick wall. The two families did general farming, raising such crops such as rye, wheat, oats, barley, red clover, potatoes and beets. They milked cows to which they fed the beets, as well as other livestock. They also kept chickens and hogs. They used oxen with which to do their farm work where horse power was required, but some of the farmers had switched to horses. The livestock was kept in barns the year round and hay and oats was kept in storage nearby. The threshing of the grain was done in winter by hand. Seven children were born to our grandparents: 1. Elizabeth September 14, 1846 2. Katherine January 16, 1848 3. Susanna April 10, 1851 4. Johann January 30, 1853 5. Ulrich May 7, 1854 6. Marie May 13, 1856 7. Christian February 9, 1859 The family lived at Meisbrunn until 1860 when they moved on the Klosterhof which was a farm of 45 acres. The Klosterhof had formerly been a monastery which had a fruit orchard and vineyard on it. Here they also did some general farming. Christian Hirschler came to the States in 1882. Elizabeth Hirscher and Marie Dester came in 1906. Jake Dester came in here in 1909. Magdalena Hirscher came in 1911. Henry Hirschler arrived here in 1921. Ulrich and Frieda Hirschler came in 1924.
