Description	:	Velda Mae Schroeder, 84, of Denver, Iowa, died on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa. Velda was born on June 18, 1925, in Douglas Township, Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore H. and Frieda Rosa (Peters) Bergmann. She was baptized on July 12, 1925 at St. John Lutheran Church, Douglas Township and was confirmed on April 2, 1939 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Denver. She graduated from Denver High School in 1943. Velda was born on June 18, 1925, in Douglas Township, Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore H. and Frieda Rosa (Peters) Bergmann. She was baptized on July 12, 1925 at St. John Lutheran Church, Douglas Township and was confirmed on April 2, 1939 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Denver. She graduated from Denver High School in 1943. Velda was united in marriage to Orlyn Schroeder on February 4, 1945 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Denver, Iowa. Following high school she worked for the F.B.I in Washington, D.C; she worked at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio in 1944, and also the Sedalia Army Air Field Ordinance Department in Sedalia, Missouri. She worked as a nurse's assistant for the office of Dr.'s Ruling, Randall, Bender and Barrett in Waterloo. She was a Waterloo Courier Route driver for 21 years. Velda is survived by her two sons, Tom Schroeder and his wife, Susan of Castle Rock, Colorado; Ted Schroeder and his wife, Renee of Rock Springs, Wyoming; four grandchildren, Eric Schroeder of USAF McConnel Air Force Base, Wichita, Kansas; Jenny Bradtmueller and her husband, Jonny of Littleton Colorado; Darin Schroeder of Annapolis, Maryland; and Todd Schroeder of Annapolis, Maryland; one great grandson, Landen Bradtmueller; two sisters, Wilma Tyler and her husband, Bill of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and Rosalie Thompson of Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Orlyn in 1995. Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 10:30 am at St. John Lutheran Church, Denver, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver. Following the visitation Velda's body will be donated to the deeded body program at the University of Iowa. Her cremains will be buried at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery, Denver. Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church or to the Cedar Valley Hospice of Waterloo and Waverly.
