Description	:	Velma Lucille Soldwisch, 84, of the Shell Rock Health Care Center, Shell Rock, Iowa, died Monday morning, June 7, 2004, at the Shell Rock Health Care Center from natural causes. Velma was born on February 10, 1920, in Macon, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond and Alma (Hence) McRoberts. Read More	Velma Lucille Soldwisch, 84, of the Shell Rock Health Care Center, Shell Rock, Iowa, died Monday morning, June 7, 2004, at the Shell Rock Health Care Center from natural causes. Velma was born on February 10, 1920, in Macon, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond and Alma (Hence) McRoberts. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Waverly where she started her schooling and graduated from the Waverly High School in 1938. On January 2, 1939, she was united in marriage to Alfred L. Soldwisch in Charles City, Iowa. The couple made their home in Waverly until 1942, when they built their home in Waterloo. In 1946, they sold their home and moved to a farm southwest of Waverly. The couple later made their home in Cedar Falls, New Hartford and Shell Rock. In the early 1950's, Velma worked as a clerk at Bill Liston's A & P Food Mart in Waverly for 6 years. She then worked for Top Hat Cleaners, then for Rollie Langholz in his grocery store. Velma then went back to work for the A & P stores in Waterloo and Cedar Falls for a short time. In the 1960's, Velma received her L.P.N. from Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo and then worked for the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, Windsor Care Center and Cedar Falls Western Home. Alfred died on January 25, 1986, and Velma continued to live in her home until December 12, 1999, when she became a resident of the Shell Rock Health Care Center. Velma was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Shell Rock. Velma is survived by one daughter, Ellen Bolt of Waverly, Iowa; James Soldwisch of Cedar Falls, Iowa, George Soldwisch and his wife Carol of Shell Rock; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Wolf of Cedar Falls; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Ragsdale of Janesville. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Grace Ragsdale, one brother, Bill McRoberts, and a brother-in-law, Donald Wolf. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Shell Rock, with Pastor Larry Sipe officiating. Burial will be in the Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 8th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home in Waverly. Memorials may be directed to the family.
